The techno group, who are gearing up for an arena gig in Milton Keynes alongside Pendulum at the end of the month, insist they are nothing like the dance group.
Frontman Liam Howlett told NME: "People go on about Pendulum being similar to us but they really aren't. I think when you see us alongside each other it's f***ing obvious that we're totally different.
"And we're as f***ed off with people going on about that as they are probably."
Howlett, who features on the Pendulum track 'Immuzine', also believes the group have strayed from their "rave roots".
He said: "It seems they've broken away from their drum 'n' bass roots, but are still clinging onto it a bit. Whereas we really kept hold of our roots in rave for quite a while, and something new has come out of it. We managed to keep most of our fans and just build."
The Prodigy are due to perform next at T In The Park on Friday July 9.
