Rev played live synthesiser on the song, the recorded version of which samples heavily from his own band's 1977 track 'Ghost Rider'.
M.I.A. appeared on stage with Rev and a number of backing performers made up to look like her, wearing identical hairstyles, lipstick, sunglasses and outfits.
"That was lovely," Letterman said after the performance, before quipping "happy Halloween" to the supporting cast.
Rev himself performed 'Ghost Rider' in May with bandmate Alan Vega during Suicide's two shows in support of Iggy & The Stooges in London, where they played their self-titled debut album in full.
