The country star is currently touring across the US and Allen - who won the eighth season of American Idol - has opened for him at some venues.
Speaking to Zap 2 It, Urban said: "We've done a few shows, and we have a couple more coming up.
"He's great! I love him. He's just got a good, real singer-songwriter vibe about him, and he's really finding his own way. He has a great voice and a good heart, and I like him immensely."
The singer - who is married to Nicole Kidman - first performed with Allen on the season finale of American Idol last year when they teamed up for a rendition of 'Kiss A Girl'.
