The group's debut single 'All Time Low' is set to debut high in the charts after reaching number one on iTunes within 24 hours of release.
Siva Kaneswaran told the Daily Star: "People might expect us to churn out the typical pop/R&B but that’s not what we’re about.
"We all have very different musical tastes."
He added: "Max loves rock and roll and is a big Elvis fan. I’m into soul music. Jay is the indie boy. Nathan is the youngest of us, the one the girls can’t resist, and he brings the pop element, while Tom is a lad’s lad and loves rap and rock music."
Tom Parker added that the group, writing with hitmakers Guy Chambers and Taio Cruz, want to make music which will appeal to males.
"Take That and JLS show you can be in a boy band but do it in a cool way," he said. "We don’t just want to be a band for girls. We want blokes to like us too."
Jay McGuiness is confident about the group's future, saying: "I’m thinking about getting a tattoo with the name of the first single drawn in. I’m not going to regret it, we’ll be around a long time."
