The band, who won the prestigious music award in 2007 with their debut album Myths Of The Near Future, encouraged this year's nominees to take advantage of all the career opportunities afforded them.
"I partied for three weeks after the Mercury Prize," Jamie Reynolds told the Daily Star.
"If you really want to win the award, go for it. It’s yours, enjoy it.
"Our manifesto easily fits on a T-shirt. It would read: 'Take fun seriously. Make good pop music'. I think that’s it."
James Righton added: "We’ve been to amazing parties, met some amazing people and played amazing gigs. That might seem outlandish, but it’s become normal to us."
Klaxons release their sophomore album Surfing The Void on August 23, preceded by single 'Echoes' on August 16.
