The one-off track was not included on the band's recent album Ignore The Ignorant.
In an interview with XFM, the group's Gary Jarman explained: "We always do standalone singles - and it's something that Johnny [Marr] used to do with The Smiths. When you release three singles from the record, it's like a quarter of the album. It feels a bit cynical.
"We're excited about the song, it's definitely like a new direction for us. I'm sure it'll weird a few people out. But that's the whole point of being in a band, it's good to go off at a tangent sometimes."
He added of work on the follow-up to Ignore The Ignorant: "We're really at the start of the writing process. Things have been coming pretty quick, so we'll just see how it goes. I don't like to put a time limit on it, but we've been in the studio already and come out with four or five songs."
