The group, who are due to perform at next week's V Festival, said that they are not planning the record's sound but hope to discover one in the studio together.
While promoting Cadbury's Spots v Stripes campaign, Heidi Range said: "We're playing V festival next week and then we had back in the studio to start writing the next album. We never really plan a sound until we go in the studio."
Jade Ewan added: "We hope it will naturally happen because it will be the first time for all of us in that environment, we're excited about that."
The LP will be the first with lastest member Ewen, who rerecorded Keisha Buchanan's vocals on their previous release Sweet 7 after being drafted into the band last September.
It was recently reported that the Sugababes have already started working with producer Boxsta, who co-produced their fifth LP Change.
