Guns N' Roses will still play this month's Reading and Leeds Festivals despite a statement suggesting that the band had "officially cancelled" all their upcoming tour dates.

A message was left on the verified Twitter page of frontman and sole remaining founding member Axl Rose regarding the planned concerts.

"All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled," the message read. "Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds."

A later message on the verified Guns N' Roses Twitter feed linked to the post and read: "Well well well, you never can tell... We are looking into this tweet...

"We are looking into this tweet... from the AxlRose twitter account. Please RT + keep with us here for official word. TY"

However, festival organisers later told BBC Entertainment that they had no official word from the band's label regarding any pull-out.

"Latest Guns N' Roses update - Reading and Leeds say Axl Rose's twitter account was hacked, and the band will still play next weekend," read news provider's own Twitter feed.

Guns N' Roses recently announced a UK arena tour and are booked to headline this month's Reading and Leeds Festivals on August 27 and August 29 respectively.
