The 64-year-old singer, whose last studio LP was 2001's Living Proof, admitted that the record will steer clear of the sound of her 1998 hit 'Believe' and focus on live instruments.
She told US Magazine: "It really won't be 'Believe'-ish. I can't put a genre to it. It's a little bit more real instruments, like guitars and stuff like that."
Cher also revealed that she is working with Diane Warren, who is best known for writing Celine Dion's 'Because You Loved Me', Aerosmith's 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing' and Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak My Heart'.
The LP is expected to be released in 2011.
Cher is currently starring alongside Christina Aguilera in the musical movie Burlesque.
