The move means that the Girls Aloud member's debut album will only be available in Tesco stores. Coyle is said to have been attracted to the deal because it meant she would have creative control over the project.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Tesco will sell her album exclusively to their customers and it won't be available anywhere else, and being able to work on the music that she wants was the main reason for going with Tesco.
"She's decided who she's wanted to work with from the start. She's in control of every single decision - from the writers, the producers and the collaborators - and wants to produce her dream album. She didn't want to be a puppet for a record company."
The source added: "She's planning a year of publicity, performing on her own and creating a brand for herself. She hasn't started to think about when she will return to the band - or even if she will."
The Girls Aloud star, who is working with William Orbit and Guy Chambers on the record, previously had a deal with Geffen Records which fell through.
