The group, who stopped performing the track in 2008, said that they brought it out of retirement because they believe it is ideal for festivals.
"We sort of put it to bed really because we got kind of bored of playing it, but it is a great festival song," singer Grant Nicholls told Absolute Radio.
"I think you have to be careful at festivals. If you try to be too cool for school it doesn't work, you need to give people the tunes they know.
"I've been to see bands playing and I know people get sick of playing their biggest hit, but everyone's got one and the audience usually want to hear that."
Nicholls also revealed that the song, despite being written by him, was originally meant for a US band called Radio Star.
He continued: "I started writing this song and then it the label heard it, it was like a demo, and they were like 'Oh, hang on a minute, guys, I think you might have a hit record here'.
"It was just a demo, just very, very rough lyrics. I mean, the whole thing is very, very simple and throwaway, that was the whole point of it really, and it stuck.
"I actually rewrote the whole song, and [producer] Gil [Norton] convinced me to use the original player lyrics and stuff."
'Buck Rogers' peaked at number five in the UK singles chart in January 2001.
