The group, who have worked with pop producers including Taio Cruz on the LP, admitted that they hope to attract a larger audience with their new sound.
"We worked with producer Taio Cruz on this album! But we changed because we wanted to compete on an international level," singer Tom Fletcher told NME.
McFly have released four studio albums, with their most recent - 2008's Radio:ACTIVE - given away for free with The Mail On Sunday.
Their as-yet-untitled fifth studio LP will be released in November, preceded by the single 'Party Girl' on September 6.
