Minaj: 'VMA gig is like coming out party'

Nicki Minaj has claimed that her MTV VMA slot is like her "coming out" party.

The rapper, who was recently confirmed to perform at the pre-show party, has also shot a promo for the awards to be televised in the run up to the broadcast.

The advert reveals the singer in biker clothing being described as "a Bond girl on a mission".

"I'm so excited to be a part of this. This is major," Minaj told MTV.

"This thing today has been like shooting a movie, it's very specific. When I shoot videos it's just about performing and doing whatever you want. But with this it's more like, 'No, this is the shot we need so we have to... get that shot'.

"This is something that everybody dreams of being a part of... and I am no exception to that rule," she continued: "I just feel like, this is my coming-out party. It's like, really, the pinnacle of my career so far."

Minaj's debut solo single 'Your Love' is out now.
