The members of Lady Antebellum have said that their performance on Friday's Stand Up To Cancer benefit holds a personal significance.

Speaking to E! Online, singer Charlie Kelley revealed that his father-in-law is currently battling colon cancer while Hillary Scott's close friend is also said to be "fighting for her life" against the illness.

"It was pretty scary. But [my father-in-law] is fighting it right now," Kelley said.

"They shrunk it down to almost nothing. He's doing really good, right back out working."

Scott added: "I think so much of it is being able to rally together with your friends and family. And having that fighting spirit of mind over matter and doing everything you can do to stay healthy."

Stand Up To Cancer airs tonight on multiple networks in the US.
