The singer, who recently notched up her third UK number one with 'Start Without You', admitted that she was amazed when she heard the news.
Speaking at the Help For Heroes concert, she told The Collective Review: "Today is a bit overwhelming for me, it's amazing that the single's gone to number one - I'm very, very, very happy!
"I just need to take it in a little bit, I'm still in shock to be quite fair."
Of her performance at yesterday's event, she said: "The crowd were incredible, amazing - such energy.
"It was a great honour and a big deal for me to come here and perform today because it's always great to do some charity work and always give back and see our troops having so much fun."
It has been reported that Burke's opening-week sales for 'Start Without You' were 61,000.
