The producer's reworking of the number one single features alongside tracks from Frankmusik, Stuart Price, Pet Shop Boys and Alphabeat on this year's The Remix.
Starsmith told BBC Newsbeat: "I didn't really realise how much of a big deal it was until we got told that they were going to use the remix and that it'd been approved by her herself.
"I think I was a bit naive at the time. Everything goes past her. She hand-picks all the remixes. It gave me a lot of confidence that someone of her level would care about something so unknown from the other side of the pond."
Of his work on a track for Cheryl Cole's upcoming second album, he added: "She's so professional. Not in a way that it's all about business but so friendly as well.
"The track had been written beforehand but she approves everything. She won't let anything past her. She likes the decisions. It was brilliant - one of the best sessions I've had."
