Church 'recorded album on instinct'

The singer, who releases comeback album Back To Scratch on October 25, believed that having creative control of the record ensured that she would sound different to other female artists in the industry.
"Leona Lewis is doing well. She is awesome but I have more diversity. I think I am quite different to a lot of the female solo artists around," Church told The Sun.
"Cheryl Cole has got the pop R&B thing going on. Pixie Lott is about. Florence is killing it. I love Alexandra Burke - she is one of the best female vocalists I have ever heard. Then there's KT Tunstall, Ellie Goulding and Adele.
"But I don't mind a bit of competition; it's healthy. I think I am pretty different."
Church also revealed that she flew to Nashville to record her new LP, where she rediscovered her voice.
"I woke up one day and thought I should go there to record," she continued. "That's how I do things - I go on gut instinct.
"I forgot how much I loved it. My classical voice is still awesome [and] I haven't lost any of my top end."
Charlotte Church releases her new single 'Back To Scratch' on September 19.
