The singer, who collaborated with the Black Eyed Peas star on four tracks for her debut LP 3 Words, headed into the studio with him to record the new songs last week, the Daily Star reports.
A source said: "Will worked with Cheryl on four tracks for her last album, 3 Words, including the sexy title track, but he can’t contain his excitement over the new stuff. He reckons the tracks will be even more successful than her first batch of solo tunes.
"He had a long recording session with Cheryl in LA last week and was gushing about it to a pal as he travelled back to London to join her on The X Factor."
They added: "Will was so excited about joining her for the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition that he changed the airline he was travelling on so he could get to the UK a couple of hours sooner.
"He was chatting to a female friend about Cheryl all the way back."
Cole's sophomore album is due for release in November.
