The legendary singer will take to the stage on October 31 at London's Roundhouse, following Elton John who will kick off the three-day festival on October 28.
Diamond said: "I'm trying to make it special. I want to do some songs from my new album, as I've never done those particular songs in public before.
"Of course I'll throw in a bunch of favourites and hope those can be brought off well and generally just try to have a good time and I hope the audience enjoy the show."
Also confirmed for the event are Robert Plant, rapper and soul singer Plan B and rising star Rumer.
Tickets for the event are on sale from 9am on September 23, priced at £25. They are available to buy from bbc.co.uk/radio2.
Last year's Electric Proms featured performances from Robbie Williams and Dizzee Rascal.
