Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has denied that the band's new album was inspired by his divorce from Avril Lavigne.

Whibley, who split from the 'Girlfriend' popstar in 2009 after three years of marriage, insisted that upcoming release Screaming Bloody Murder is "not about her".

He told Kerrang!: "It's not a break-up record. The record's not about her, and it's not about the whole break-up. It's just us being as loud as we can be, screaming about how we don't give a f**k about anything else other than ourselves."

The album is said to showcase a harder, angrier style of music compared to the band's more punk-oriented previous offerings.
