Frontman Andrew VanWyngarden revealed that the band recently met John and Edward Grimes in Dublin, and even admitted that he was considering producing the duo's next album.
He told NME: "We met them at a party. They're big fans of 'Kids' and they want to do it with us. As we're American we don't know how people will perceive it.
"Maybe we could produce their album as well. They remind me of ourselves when we were young, back when we were doing the whole karaoke thing at college."
During the interview, VanWyngarden even referred to himself and bandmate Benjamin Goldwasser as "Bendrew".
MGMT are currently touring the UK to promote their second album Congratulations.
