Susan Boyle will release her second album The Gift in November, on the same week that Shayne Ward releases his third album Obsession.
"I only found out about this the other day," Ward revealed to Celebritain. "She is a sales juggernaut but it's exciting.
"I just hope that I come out on top."
Obsession was produced by Taio Cruz and RedOne and will be preceded by Ward's cover of the Nickelback song 'Gotta Be Somebody' as the lead single.
Ward's previous album Breathless reached number two in the UK Album charts in 2007 after being denied the top spot by another X Factor winner, Leona Lewis.
Ward has been signed to Simon Cowell's label SyCo since his X Factor victory in 2005, the same label that currently represents Susan Boyle in the UK.
