The duo, who rose to fame with their 2008 hit 'Kids', are planning a "super-satirical pop" sound for for their live shows after describing their latest jaunt as an "escapist, indulgent psychedelic trip".
"We've actually talked about doing something with our live show so it's more clearly defined," Andrew VanWyngarden told Bang Showbiz.
"Like, maybe doing one set that's even trippier, and further out that what we're doing just now, and then doing another of super-satirical pop music, more along the lines of what we used to do when we first started out. Almost like Karaoke.
"We couldn't follow the success of the first record, because if we tried to write another song like 'Kids' it would have sounded incredibly forced and we would have been slammed for doing that instead."
MGMT recently claimed that they were keen to perform 'Kids' with Irish double act Jedward.
