The original LP was recorded that year on Valentine's Day at Leeds University and featured only six tracks. Subsequent re-releases have added increasing amounts of music to the live document.
In 1995, the tracklisting was extended to 14 songs. The 2001 Deluxe Edition came across two discs, with the second devoted entirely to a rendition of Tommy from the same show.
The upcoming Live At Leeds: 40th Anniversary Super-Deluxe Collector's Edition will also feature a restored two-disc live album culled from the band's performance the next day in Hull.
Frontman Roger Daltrey said: "Hull was a better gig than Leeds. I remember it like it was yesterday, although in retrospect Live At Hull doesn't really trip off the tongue!"
Also included in the boxed package are a 64-page hardback book, a Pete Townshend poster, a vinyl reproduction of the original six-track LP and a replica 7" single of 'Summertime Blues'/ 'Heaven & Hell'.
Live At Leeds is re-released on November 15.
