The 30th Annual ASCAP Awards took place in London last night and celebrated the success of members of UK songwriters' body PRS for Music who have a presence in the US music scene.
Coldplay members Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Chris Martin were named 'Songwriters Of The Year' at the ceremony, and also won 'Song Of The Year' for the title track from their fourth album Viva La Vida.
Cruz received the ASCAP's 'Vanguard Award' in recognition of his debut album Departure. Previous recipients of the award include Calvin Harris, Kate Nash and Jack Johnson.
A second special prize was given to Scouting For Girls. The band took home the 'College Award' for their second album Everybody Wants To Be On TV.
In addition to honouring chart acts, the event also recognised achievements by composers for films such as Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, State of Play and An Education.
