The singer, who is recording her fourth studio LP, said that she enjoys looking at flamboyant artists such as Ke$ha and Lady GaGa.
"It’s an interesting period in music right now," she told Maxim.
"A lot of girls are really into their image and costumes and going over the top. I really like Ke$ha. Her songs are fun to party to and her lyrics are hilarious."
It was reported earlier this year that Lavigne is "close" to finishing her new record. She has collaborated on the album with producer Alex Da Kid, known for his work with Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Eminem.
