Cee Lo Green slams 'F**k You!' attackers

Cee Lo Green has slammed parents who have attacked him over the release of his number one single 'F**k You!'.

The Gnarls Barkley frontman responded to various complaints over the use of swear words in the track, saying that parents should be "should be less uptight".

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, he said: "I have a 10-year-old [child] and I think, with the internet and the entertainment industry being as it is, there is so much more accessible and unauthorised, and unapologetic, that we may as well be as honest with our kids.

"I wouldn't necessarily want my children to be naive about anything. I can either teach them how to negate or navigate, to get through it or avoid it completely. That's all that we can hope for them - to be able to distinguish things."

Of the song's offensive levels, he continued: “If you think about the lyrics, in literal terms, I saw them (his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend) driving past, and I'm like, 'F**k you!' But I didn't say it to her, I'm just thinking it out loud. The song is about smiling in the face of adversity, and accepting and moving on. There's definitely a silver lining to it."

He added: "It's just meant to be funny, really. I dare somebody to have a problem with this song."

'F**k You!' - and the radio version retitled 'Forget You!' - has been number one in the singles chart for two weeks. His new album The Lady Killer will be released next month.
