Prince, U2 and Coldplay have been touted as headliners at next year's Glastonbury Festival, according to sources.

Organiser Michael Eavis has already signed Prince and U2 to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage in 2011, while Coldplay are in the final stages of negotiations, according to The Sun.

It would mean a first appearance at the festival for both Prince and U2, although Coldplay have already headlined the event in 2002 and 2005.

A source said: "Michael was very keen to get the lineup sorted early and is over the moon at securing such massive acts. He is a huge fan of Prince and has been trying to nab him for years. The fact it's been tied up so quickly is a big but welcome shock."

U2, who are currently working on their 13th studio album with a view to an "early 2011" release, recently dropped a heavy hint that they would be performing at the Worthy Farm event.

The source added: "U2 were a fairly obvious capture. Michael immediately had his sights set on them after they were forced to cancel this year and they were very happy to oblige."

The source continued: "Coldplay are currently in negotiations about taking a headline slot. Michael has previously said Coldplay's set in 2005 was his personal favourite and is very pleased to be welcoming them back."

Next year's Glastonbury will be the last until 2013, after Eavis decided to cancel the 2012 event - although he later denied that it is due to a shortage of portable toilets.

Glastonbury 2011 takes place from June 24 to June 26. Tickets have already sold out.
