Mars held off strong competition from Duck Sauce's 'Barbara Streisand' and Katy Perry's 'Firework', both of whom benefited from featuring in last weekend's X Factor.
The Wanted failed to crack the top ten with their second single 'Heart Vacancy'. The follow-up to 'All Time Low', which peaked at number 13, debuts at number 18. Former X Factor finalist Diana Vickers, who also returned to perform on the programme last week, enters at 22 with 'My Wicked Heart'.
Elsewhere, Taylor Swift's new single 'Mine' comes in at number 38.
