Bon Jovi book new Wembley concert date
Published Wednesday, Jan 25 2006, 15:15 GMT | By Fiona Edwards
Bon Jovi have booked another date to play at the newly built Wembley Stadium when it is finished.
The band were already scheduled to be the first band to play at the re-opened venue, but now are going to play one day earlier as well as the already booked and sold-out date of June 11.
Although there was clear demand for the additional date, adding an earlier show has upset some fans who hoped to go to the first ever gig at the new Wembley.
Organisers AEG defended the move, with Lives Senior Vice-President Rob Hallet explaining:
"I am sorry if anybody is disappointed who bought a ticket for the 11th simply to be at the new stadium for the first show. We took the view, given the band's massive popularity, that it was better to please all their true fans that couldn't get tickets than disappoint a tiny minority who just wanted to be able to say they had been to the first show at Wembley."
Tickets for the June 10th concert went on sale at 9 a.m. today. Fans can call the 24-Hour hotline on 0870 405 0448 or buy online at www.aeglive.co.uk to obtain tickets.
