Arctic Monkeys turn down Brit Awards
Published Thursday, Jan 26 2006, 10:52 GMT | By Fiona Edwards
Newcomers the Arctic Monkeys have reportedly turned down offers to play at the Brit Awards in February.
The band is notoriously publicity-shy, though a viral marketing campaign on the internet managed to get the number one spot with their single I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor.
They have apparently sworn not to appear on television shows such as CD:UK or Top of the Pops as they are not comfortable with television performances, and so will not be appearing at the award ceremony which will be broadcast.
Other acts lined up for the Brits include Kaiser Chiefs, Gorillaz and Kanye West.
