The singer, who announced her retirement from music in 2008 in order to focus on her acting career, told the Herald Scotland that the group are currently recording their first album in five years.
Manson said: "I'm working on a record right now with the band. We've recorded quite a lot but it's difficult to quantify.
"It's the first one in a long time. I took about five years off. I'd like to do some touring next year."
She added: "We’re just winging it right now."
The band's last studio album Bleed Like Me was released in 2005, and was followed by greatest hits record Absolute Garbage in 2007.
Manson previously said that she was reconsidering a return to music after performing at the funeral of her friends' son.
