The 'Defender' singer admitted that, while the duet with the grime rapper doesn't appear on his new album Accelerate, he feels ready to take risks with his music.
"This album is so different. It's a pure British-made album," he told the Daily Star.
"It’s all exciting and I figured as I've got my TV show and my scent, I can afford to take a risk with my music.
"The first person who got in touch about working on this was Wiley. We started doing something together and got so close to recording it but it didn't happen, so we're saving it for my next project.
He continued: "I have full respect for Wiley - he started this whole project in my mind. He's the daddy of the grime scene and now we have Dizzee and Tinie following him. The sound is not what I'm used to but I love it."
Discussing his latest LP, he admitted that is was a "tough" decision to change his sound, but praised his co-producers including Labrinth for bringing out a new side of him.
"It was a tough decision to go with the UK urban sound," he confessed. "I was like, 'Am I doing the right thing? Is this going to flop?'
"Everyone knows that Michael Jackson is my biggest inspiration but I wanted to nod to what's going on in the charts today."
Accelerate is battling for a place inside the top ten this Sunday.
