Wiz Khalifa 'arrested for pot possession'

Wiz Khalifa has been arrested for possession of marijuana.

The rapper was detained on Monday in Greenville, NC after a show he performed at East Carolina University's Wright Auditorium, reports MTV News.

Authorities are said to have smelled pot smoke coming from his tour bus and later recovered over 60 grams, or 2 ounces, from the vehicle.

"He was on his way with his band to his bus parked outside, and they stopped him because of a strong odour of marijuana emanating from the bus and the backstage area of the auditorium," said university spokesman John Durham.

"They asked if he would co-operate with officers, and he agreed, and they went on his bus, and then he and nine members of his entourage were arrested on three charges related to marijuana possession."

Khalifa - born Cameron Thomaz - was booked into Pitt County Detention Centre but later posted $300,000 (£187,384) bail and was released the next morning.
