Neil Diamond penning 'recession' anthem

The 'Sweet Caroline' crooner, who released his 32nd studio album earlier this month, said that he is penning a new anthem that will lift people's spirits as they struggle in the current financial climate.
"We’re so inundated with bad news, and I would like to write a song that’s an optimistic, uplifting view of what America can and will be," he told Parade Magazine.
"That would be a challenge. I don’t even know if I could do it."
Diamond recently insisted that his latest LP was more than just a covers album.
