The Scissor Sisters frontman, who bared all on stage at 2007's T in the Park festival, assured fans that he will not repeat the performance at the band's forthcoming Scottish show.
"The first time we did T in the Park, I did get naked on stage but it was very brief as it was so cold," he told the Daily Record.
"The problem when you perform is that your bits shrink up a bit - especially if it's cold outside. It's not really great for the cameras.
"There have been a couple of moments in the past when I've stripped but I'm not really a fan of full-frontal nudity. There is nothing more unsexy."
He continued: "It has happened once or twice [before]. I try to restrain myself but depending on what I'm wearing sometimes I just want to die if anything isn't breathing. I run around so much I have to pull it all off."
Shears also revealed that the 'Comfortably Numb' group are hoping to play new material on their UK jaunt next year.
"We have been writing but then we're always writing stuff," he said. "We have a finger in the studio. We've got some songs together and hopefully we'll be performing some of it in the spring. Who knows?"
