Party in the Park cancelled for second year

Party in the Park has been cancelled for the second year in a row.

Organisers have said that people "want something different" from the annual pop concert, which has previously featured acts such as McFly, Boyzone, Busted and Westlife.

A spokeswoman for Capital, who sponsor the event, said: "We have had a great eight years with Party in the Park but it is time to move on. [We] relaunched this year and we are looking at other events to do this summer."

However, the Prince's Trust say they intend to run the event again in 2007 with different sponsorship. Instead of Party in the Park, the Trust will put on a Tower of London concert to mark its 30th anniversary this May.

The concert was cancelled in 2005 due to the Live 8 concerts, with the Prince's Trust receiving £1.6m from a text message hotline in compensation
