Chris Cheney has revealed that his music career is "all-consuming".
The Australian musician, who is the lead singer of The Living End, said that he spends "24 hours a day" writing and practising the band's sixth album.
Cheney told National Features: "I'm out in the studio first thing in the morning, I look at the clock and it's bedtime. It's all-consuming. I could work 24 hours a day on it. You're trying to create something special and that's what it takes.
"You step out of the spotlight once you finish touring an album but it's actually more hectic because you don't get a break from these songs. It's torture. But I think I secretly like it. I find if you're not struggling at it something's not working."
He also revealed that their upcoming album is "so much better than the last record".
