Deadmau5 has criticised his label over the release of his new LP 4x4=12.

The DJ and producer, who released the record last week, said that anyone at his label attempting to sell it as his new album "needs to be shot".

"It's another compilation. It's along the lines of Random Album Title and For Lack Of A Better Name," he explained to the Daily Record.

"It's more of a culmination of s**t I got done this year in between touring. People are saying, 'What about an artist album? What about three months off, buddy?'

"I'm not knocking the album at all. It's a good compilation of the tracks I've been doing for the show. I'm not against any of it, I like some of it."

Deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, is due to play two headline shows in Glasgow and London later this month.
