Speaking to NME, the Beady Eye singer said that he now believes Noel had made a decision to quit long before the conflict occurred.
He explained: "It was just another f**king argument me and our kid had about the usual, just f**king.... him being him and me being me. End of.
"It wasn't a big f**king deal, we'd had a lot worse. But I think it was just time, man. I don't think his heart was in it anymore anyway."
Liam continued: "He wasn't with us no more. So he started the argument, and that was it - I bit. Perfect. I played right into his hands. So there you go."
Discussing the decision to form Beady Eye with the remaining Oasis lineup - Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock - Liam said: "We all went back to the hotel, got on the piss and it was like, 'Alright lets f**king do this.'
"I might have apologised to the lads, I might not have, I can't remember."
