According to Yahoo News, the two nineties boybands will perform on the special television episode to promote their joint tour next year.
The two groups are currently referred to by the acronym NKOTBSB following their first live performance together last month.
"The NKOTBSB just keeps snowballing...and nothing is as exciting as Time Square's New Year's countdown," the Backstreet Boys said following the announcement.
Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve will air on ABC at 10pm EST on December 31.
