The frontman, who confirmed that the band's next record will be called Build A Rocket, Boys! during an appearance on Marc Riley's BBC 6 Music show, admitted that the name for the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-winning LP The Seldom Seen Kid was bound to come out soon anyway.
Garvey said: "I'm in terrible trouble. I got drunk and announced on air the title of the album, under the influence of old mild Guinness.
"You can't really keep secrets from Elbow fans for very long, anyway. They're an industrious bunch. They find things out."
