Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the frontman explained that the very nature of the music industry has shifted dramatically.
"We were part of the demise of the old-fashioned record industry," he said. "We witnessed it first-hand, and it was very interesting, but it wasn't a great experience."
Le Bon went on to suggest that artists and executives struggled to adapt when the album format became less appealing to audiences.
He further explained: "To go from the days when people used to get grand pianos delivered to their doorstep to a time when label executives are being laid off left, right and centre is quite extreme."
Duran Duran have scored five platinum albums and more than two dozen UK top ten singles over the course of their 30-year career.
The band's bassist John Taylor recently admitted that Duran Duran's albums were often "mediocre".
