Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Coyne touted tomorrow night's Oklahoma City gig as a raucous celebration.
"Our show is kind of like a New Year's Eve show when it's not New Year's Eve," he said. "So when we do a New Year's Eve show, it's out of control."
The frontman added that The Flaming Lips will try to reproduce the drug-fuelled haze that many of their fans may experience during the show.
He said: "The audience, I think, want that. They're on acid and they're on mushrooms and on DMT (dimethyltryptamine, a hallucinogenic drug) and they want this over-the-top experience."
The Flaming Lips have recorded 13 studio albums since releasing their debut LP Hear It Is 24 years ago.
