The New York Times reports that the singer was due to hit the stage at the Music Hall of Williamsburg at 8pm but did not show up until after midnight.
Two crowd members who made signs reading "You Just Lost One" and "This Is Insulting" to express their frustration at the wait were told by Hill that they were "disrespectful" and shouldn't "do that".
“I spent my entire 20s sacrificing my life to give you love. So when I hear people complain, I don’t know what to tell you,” she told the audience by way of apology.
“I personally know I’m worth the wait.”
