The 32-year-old producer/rapper has recorded his last work under the moniker and will retire the act after he tours farewell album Computers and Blues.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Skinner said that he did not want to be "singing 'Let's Push Things Forward' when I'm 40".
He added that he wanted to "do something else" as he was "getting older".
"If I'd have put on a helmet like Daft Punk - sometimes I think I should have - those guys can go on forever," Skinner quipped. "They're going to be 60, and under that helmet they could be 23."
