The group, who split in 2004 but reformed in 2009 for a number of gigs, are said to be recording new material in Miami.
The Daily Star reports that the band - made up of Antony Costa, Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe and Duncan James - are putting the LP together in the Florida city, slating it for release in the UK later this year.
A source said: "People are going to be really surprised. The songs are really, really good."
Blue scored three consecutive number one albums between 2001 and 2003, as well as 11 top ten singles.
It was recently denied that member Lee Ryan was planning to release his shelved solo album Confessions later this month, after a release date appeared on a number of music retail websites.
