The Mirror quotes the former Roxy Music frontman as saying that he prefers artists who focus on their public image as well as their musical vision.
"It’s not for everyone to do but I've always been attracted to musicians with a visual flair and Lady GaGa is a supreme example of that," he said.
Ferry, who is also known for his elaborate stage wardrobe, further revealed that a distinct personal style drew him to legendary jazz musician Miles Davis and soul singer Otis Redding.
The musician added: "All the jazz players I like - like Miles Davis - were always dressed very sharply. I saw Otis Redding and he was amazing."
Ferry's latest release Olympia marks the 13th studio album in his more than 35-year career.
