The band release Dancing Backward in High Heels through Blast Records on March 14 in the UK.
Guitarist Sylvain Sylvain said: "I think this is the most creative record that the New York Dolls, and me and [singer] David [Johansen] in particular, have ever done.
"We've worked with a lot of great people and I'm not putting anybody down and I'm not trying to compare it with earlier versions of The Dolls - but as far as songwriting goes I think that these are the best songs that we have ever come up with."
Sylvain and Johansen are the sole remaining founding members of the New York Dolls. The current lineup is completed by Frank Infante on guitar, Jason Hill on bass and Brian Delaney on drums.
The follow-up to 2009's Cause I Sez So will be packaged with a bonus DVD featuring previously unseen footage and live audio tracks recorded in Newcastle last September.
