Pearl Jam have revealed the details of their eighth studio album, Pearl Jam, to be released on May 1.
The album was recorded with producer Adam Kasper in Seattle and will see the band collaborate together more than any of their previous albums, with every member receiving writing credit.
Guitarist Stone Gossard told Rolling Stone that he has high hopes for this album: "It feels like a new opportunity for us. We're proud of the songs, and we think they have a chance to do a little better commercially."
The album he described as "very punky and Who-ish," and says that it contains "a couple of rock songs, a couple of ballads - it's not rocket science."
Unlike the band's previous album, Riot Act, only one of the songs from Pearl Jam has been premiered live - Crapshoot - as lead singer Eddie Vedder has said that the band wanted fans to hear the music on the album first.
The first single to be released from the album will be World Wide Suicide and will be available as a free download from the band's website from March 8.
